TERMS and CONDITIONS


Normal terms and conditions of rental apply at all times. All rates include VAT and insurance and are subject to availability. An excess will be charged for any vehicle damage, however an optional excess waiver can be purchased (subject to qualification). Insurance cover is for UK mainland only unless written consent is granted prior to rental.

Drivers

Drivers must be aged between 25 years and 75 years.
Drivers aged 25 or over can hire all vehicle groups. Further information can be obtained from our rental reservations department on 01874 610220
You can add additional drivers to your booking. No person other than the renter or approved additional driver(s) is permitted to drive the vehicle rented. Seatbelts must be worn at all times as required by law.

Driving Licence/Identification

Drivers are required to obtain a check code available from this web page - https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.
To hire a vehicle, UK drivers must bring a valid driving licence and 2 further forms of identification, one which must include proof of address. This can be 2 bills or 1 bill and another form of photographic identification, preferably a passport. Acceptable documents include utility bills and bank or credit card statements issued within the last 3 months. Please note that drivers with a photocard licence must bring both parts.
EU drivers must possess a driving licence and either a passport or ID card.
Drivers outwith the EU must possess a valid domestic driving licence with English translation. If English translation is not available, an international driving permit is required in addition to a domestic driving licence. A passport must also accompany a domestic driving licence.
Additional drivers added to the booking, must also provide a valid driving licence.

Rental

Minimum rental period is 1 day.
Mileage allowance
300 miles per day (24 hours)
Weekend rental (Fri 4.00pm to Mon 9.00am): 600 miles free of charge
Mileage excess - 10p per mile.

Driving outside the UK

European rentals are restricted to cars and only by prior arrangement. Customers are responsible for travel insurance costs and European breakdown recovery for the vehicle and passengers. Additional charges will apply. For a quote please Contact Us.
Please note vans are not permitted to be taken outwith the UK mainland and while cars may be taken to Northern Ireland they should not be taken over the border to Eire.
The rules are always changing when it comes to the regulations of driving a vehicle abroad. As a UK driver you may not be fully aware of what is expected of you in other EU countries and what you need to cover off before you travel, such as mandatory EU travel kits and breathalyser kits.

Fuel

All our rental vehicles run on either unleaded or diesel fuel. All vehicles are checked before hire to recorded the amount of fuel in the vehicle. It is the customer’s responsibility to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel. Fuel charges or fuel shortage will be charged at current pump prices plus a 10% refilling surcharge.

Payments

For advance bookings payment a deposit is required. For cancellations, one day's payment will be charged if less than 24 hours notice is given. Most major credit / debit cards are accepted.

For Long Term Bookings of 2 weeks or Longer- A 10% Charge of your booking will be applied if a Hire is cancelled after final confirmation of booking.

Deposits

A deposit is required at time of booking. Please see rates page for deposit requirements

Daily Hire Charges

Daily rental is charged on a 24 hour basis starting from the time you collect the vehicle. Hours outwith a 24 hour period will be charged a further days hire.

Rental Extensions

Subject to availability, rentals may be extended by contacting the rental office and arranging an extension during time of original rental, failure to do so will result in the vehicle being uninsured. Late payments for extensions may be subject to an administration fee.

Vehicle Availability

To avoid disappointment vehicles should be booked in advance. Models shown and all descriptions are for general guidance only and while every effort is made to comply with requirements we cannot guarantee a specific model.

Excess Waiver

Offering peace of mind, our excess waiver from only £5.00 per day will reduce your car hire insurance excess to £200 (the standard excess is £500). If your vehicle is damaged or you are in an accident the full cost is covered by us with £200 excess for you to pay. Ask in branch for more details or Contact Us to add an excess waiver to your booking.

Additional Drivers

Arrive at your destination fresher by adding an additional driver to your car hire. You can add up to three extra drivers to help share the driving. All will have the same insurance cover as the main driver for only £10.00 per driver per day.

Pick-up and Drop-off Services

Local delivery and collection services are available at an extra cost. Please contact us for prices and availability.

Speed Limits

Please make sure you are aware of the correct speed limit for the vehicle you are driving

Out of Hours Drop Off

The vehicles need to be returned back to us within opening times - If for any unforeseen circumstance it needs to be dropped out of hours please be aware that it is still under the hirers responsibility until the vehicle is checked in by a member of the BCR staff

Vehicle Checks

It is the drivers responsibility to carry out all Daily Vehicle Safety Checks before setting off on the journey for example Lights, Levels, Tyres.
